Topics

  • Taxes can create a meaningful drag on long-term investment outcomes. For investors building wealth over time, where an asset is held can matter as much as the investment itself.

In this session, John Hillman, Partner in Apollo’s New Markets Group, and Jason Singer, Partner and Global Lead for Product Development & Innovation in Apollo’s Client and Product Solutions Group, explore how tax-efficient structures can help investors preserve and compound more of their investment returns. They examine the role of asset location in private markets, two insurance-based solutions to tax-efficient investing, along with considerations for advisors seeking to identify client use cases.

In this class they will cover:
    • Why asset location matters to long-term wealth creation, including the effect of tax drag on compounding.
    • How private placement variable annuities (PPVAs) and private placement life insurance (PPLI) can provide different approaches to tax-efficient investing, including tax deferral and, subject to applicable requirements, tax-free growth.
    • How tax-efficient vehicles can provide access to public and private market strategies, including the role of insurance-dedicated funds and key factors around investment selection and diversification.
    • Implementation considerations such as investment horizon, liquidity, fees, withdrawals, underwriting requirements and the circumstances in which these structures may, or may not, be appropriate.
    • How advisors can identify potential use cases and begin client conversations, from tax-sensitive investors and legacy planners to existing annuity holders and clients with philanthropic goals.
